I like to use a charcoal mask, rinse that off and then use the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask.  CLICK HERE to start shopping!

My Favorite Blog Post of the Year

My favorite blog post of the year was "Black in Vermont: My Most Racist Experience while I was in Vermont."  This is my favorite post because it started an important discussion about race, liberal racism, and much more. Finally, served as a great example of how racist people (like the fake racist guy who bullied me for my post) try to silence people of color or sexist people like to silence women.

My Blog in 2017

Hello!!!!  This has been an amazing year for my blog! To say that my blog has grown tremendously this year is truly an understatement.  I thank God then Detroit Fashion News introducing me to more people around the world. This year my goal with my blog is to continue giving my readers more interesting consistent content. In addition, I am also working on professionally transforming my blog (with the help of actual professionals), getting my own domain, and running this blog as a professional business. I am really looking forward to blogging in the year 2017. Thank you so much for all of your support! Stay blessed!

Treat Yourself to a Boscia Holiday Facial

Boscia is a skin care company that uses innovative Japanese technology to create effective products that are free from preservatives.  The stress from the holidays can make anyone’s skin look a little dull. However, I am here to show you how you can revive your skin from the comfort of your own home!
Step One: Steam your skin. If you do not want to purchase a  professional steamer, then you can make yourself a “fake steamer” at home. Make yourself a steamer at home by boiling a small pot of water. After the water is done boiling pour the water into a bowl and hold your face over the steaming water.
Step Two: Use the Tsubaki Splash Mask. The mask is a favorite of mine because it fits into my busy schedule and hydrates my skin. To use this product, one simply needs to pat one to pumps onto wet skin after cleansing and then allow it to air dry.
Step Three:  Apply the Charcoal Pore Pudding and the Sake Brightening Hydrogel Eye Masks according to the directions. I love the Charcoal Pore Pudding because it detoxifies my skin without drying it out. The eye masks are a great fix for dark circles that are common during the busy holiday season. Finally, I recommend that anyone using these eye masks make sure that they put them in the refrigerator. When these eye masks are cold they also help to remove any puffiness!

Step Four: Use the MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil. This oil is the BEST cleansing oil I have ever used! This oil takes off even the most stubborn makeup making it perfect for removing your stubborn holiday-party makeup.
Step Five: Use the Clear Complexion Cleanser. The holidays can cause breakouts from stress and less than healthy meal choices. This cleanser not only prevents and treats breakouts, but it loads your skin with antioxidants.

Step Six:  Use the  Clear Complexion Tonic. This toner helps prevent and heal breakouts while being gentle on the skin. This toner is so gentle that it can be used on sensitive skin! This product is great to keep in your purse so that you can refresh your makeup throughout the day.
Step Seven:  Use the Super-Cool De-Puffing Eye Balm.  This product contains a seven-peptide complex that helps diminish puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines. I also recommend that this product is stored in the refrigerator to help diminish puffiness in the eyes even more.
Step Eight:  Use the Tsubaki Beauty Oil.  This oil provides extra hydration for the skin which is essential during a Detroit winter. I recommend that this oil is applied immediately after the toner is applied so that the oil will look in the extra hydration.
Step Nine: Use the Tsubaki Glotion. Who needs foundation after using this product? If you are looking to do a no makeup look this holiday season, then Glotion is right for you. This moisturizer is infused with Tsubaki oil and a natural mineral blend of light-reflecting pigments. This leads to skin that is very hydrated, glowing and luminous.
Step Ten: Use the Self-Defense Vital Antioxidant Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30.  This is my favorite sunscreen! This product does not make me look ashy and it also does not make me feel sticky and oily. I also find it convenient that this product is a moisturizer as well as a sunscreen which makes getting ready a little easier.
Step Eleven: Spray on the White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray.  This product will soak up any oil on your face and prevent you from getting greasy throughout the day without drying you out.
Step Twelve: Take away any shine that accumulates throughout the day with the Black Charcoal Blotting Linens. I find these blotting linens to be superior to others because they contain charcoal which is amazing for removing excess oil from the skin.

Fashion Advice and Blogging Advice

Hey guys! So, starting in February I will be charging people for blogging advice and/or fashion advice.  This year was the year that I started to really take my blogging and my brand seriously. My time is very valuable so this is how it is going to be now. I will let you know about pricing later.

Zuvaa Pop Up Tour: Detroit

There is no doubt that African fashion has infiltrated the fashion industry. The online marketplace Zuvaa has influenced the business in a very positive way and the genius behind the company is Kelechi Anyadiegwu. Anyadiegwu has been featured on CNNMadame NoireForbes, and other various media outlets.
On October 22nd and 23rd, Zuvaa came to Detroit for the first time. Zuvaa regularly holds pop-up shops around the nation several times a year, as a way to interact offline with their customers. I had the chance to work as a brand ambassador for Obioma.  Obioma was just one of the many brands that made their way to Detroit. It was a pleasure to see that many Detroiters are so enthusiastic about African fashion.

If you are trying to get into African fashion but do not know where to start I suggest wearing a Dashiki dress shirt over jeans or leggings.
We would like to thank Kelechi Anyadiegwu, Lensa Desta, all of the designers, the Zuvaa Ambassadors, the models, the photographers, the volunteers, the vendors,  and the rest of the Zuvaa team. More photos and videos of the event can be found on Instagram:@kayaysway92.

Dash Diet

Hey, guys! I am starting my NYE resolution before 2017. My goal is to be VERY HEALTHY. To accomplish this goal I have decided to start the DASH Diet at the recommendation of a medical professional.  The DASH Diet "was developed to lower blood pressure without medication in research sponsored by the US National Institutes of Health. The first DASH diet research showed that it could lower blood pressure as well as the first line blood pressure medications, even with a sodium intake of 3300 mg/day!  Since then, numerous studies have shown that the DASH diet reduces the risk of many diseases, including some kinds of cancer, stroke, heart disease, heart failure, kidney stones, and diabetes. It has been proven to be an effective way to lose weight and become healthier at the same time. It is full of fabulous, delicious, real foods. All of these benefits led to the #1 diet ranking by US News & World Report in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014." I will let you guys know how I am doing at the end of this month and at the end of January. BTW I am the type of person who does not like to share my weight so I will just be letting you know how many pounds I have lost as well as what my goals are. My goal is to lose 20 pounds so I would like to lose 10 pounds per month. In addition, I am only eating boneless skinless chicken breast, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. I am not allowed to have added salt or sugar and I will be drinking only water, tea, and healthy water based drinks.

Stay Strong Standing Rock

As many of us are eating our Thanksgiving meals there are many that will be on the frontlines fighting for their rights.  I wanted to say to everyone at Standing Rock that I support them and I am disgusted with the situation. It is a shame that the government is STILL disregarding and disrespecting the lives of  Native Americans. Stay strong Standing Rock!

Simply Naked Beauty

I had so much fun at WALK Detroit! However, wearing three coats of foundation and eye concealer left my skin in need of some pampering. Luckily for me, I had Simply Naked Beauty to nurse my skin back to life.

I really enjoyed using Simply Naked Beauty's Complete Under Eye Repair. This formula is organic and helped with the dark circles and puffiness under my eyes.

Simply Naked Beauty's Anti-Aging Serum not only tightens the skin, but it also soothes an irritated, inflamed face. I also recommend that you refrigerate this serum because it feels refreshing when you put it on cold!

Simply Naked Beauty's Brow Kit  comes with an eyebrow tutorial guide, a brow brush, and an eyebrow powder. This Brow Kit made my eyebrows look naturally polished!

Walk Fashion Show Detroit 2016

On November 13, 2016, the Walk Fashion Show was held at The Eastern Market.  WALK  was founded in 2009 by native Detroiters, Daishawn Franklin, and Crystal Bailey, for the purpose of contributing to the evolving fashion industry in the Motor City. WALK has really grown over the years and today, approximately five-hundred people attend each casting call and more than two-thousand fashionistas attend these shows from Detroit to Atlanta, and around the nation.

#TeamDFN Visits Détroit Is the New Black

Detroit is the New Black

On September 16, 2016, the Detroit Fashion News team visited Détroit Is the New Black (located on 1426 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI).  The city of Detroit possesses a magic that one cannot describe. Even though Roslyn Karamoko  (the genius behind this masterpiece) is not a Detroit native, she was captivated by this magic and created this Detroit-inspired boutique.
Detroit is the New Black
The store is known for its unique indescribable design along with great clothing. The vision behind the store layout is from the artist, Leon Dickey.
